This is a strange publication, but I thought I would share it anyway in case someone goes through a thyroid problem and wants to see photos of what to expect. Honestly, it looks worse than it is. I expected a scar, of course, but there were also other changes.
Anyway, here it goes. Starting with a couple of photos «before», so you can see the big bulge in my neck. At that time, I had no idea what it was a mass. I thought it was a enlarged thyroid, something I had met for 20 years. However, it became much bigger quite fast, so it should be eliminated.
I was taking a picture of my earrings (just to ask someone about a smaller bolt length) so you can’t see all my neck, but this really shows the size of what you can see. |
After this is when I had the biopsy, which was horrible. You can read about that In this publication.
This is a bruise that formed during biopsy. I felt that maybe I made a big mistake when doing the biopsy (although necessary): my symptoms worsened and looked horrible. It was also very painful.

A hematoma is basically a pocket full of blood. Since there is no incision for blood to come out, it accumulates below. |
I did not realize how serious the hematoma in the neck is until after reaching the house of the biopsy and was becoming even more difficult to swallow. If you continue to bleed, you can close your airway, so it is important to review it. They really did not do much in the emergency room (or even in my stay at night), but they said it was good to enter. If my airway closed, at least I would be in the hospital.
The medical assistant who made the biopsy told me that «it could have a small bruise that will disappear in a couple of days.» Well, here is the timeline for my biopsy bruising … The bruise was there for two and a half weeks. The images make it not look so bad, but it was very remarkable. I kept forgetting it until I noticed that people looked at him while I was in public.

In the hospital after removing the bandage. The swelling had already dropped a remarkable amount. |

Five days after biopsy. The small point is where the needles were inserted; I think there is a hollow needle and then six smaller needles were passed through that to collect samples. Or maybe I’m just inventing that? I think that’s what they told me. |

Meanwhile, I also had a computerized tomography and I saw how big the dough was. They were around 5-6 centimeters, which is considered very large (even surgeons were a bit impressed by size). I was pressing against my esophagus (food tube) and trachea (airway) and even my vein and spine. That’s why it was so difficult to swallow.
I even started eating softer foods because I was almost drowning several times. My voice had changed (the voice box is * correct * there and they told me that there was a possibility that my voice would change permanently after surgery (caused by a complication). Honestly, I would not have cared!
I think that the bruise of the biopsy finally left after about two and a half weeks. Just in time to be replaced by a scar! Ha ha ha. Fortunately, the biopsy became negative for cancer!

Only another angle at 24 hours after the operation. |

Twelve days after the operation. There is still some residual adhesive, but touching it gave me the Jeebies Heebie, so I did not rub it. |

Thirteen days after the operation. I used tweezers to gently pick up the steri foothold residue, and I felt that it looked much better after that! |

Exactly a month later, which is approximately six weeks after the operation. |
The skin gathered in my neck, along with wrinkled skin on my chin (which was of my jaw repair surgeries in 2010), my face does not look too well these days, hahaha. They are not hidden with clothes, even a turtle neck cannot cover it, so I just have to agree with that. The scar is not a problem for me, but I really hate loose skin.
And from this moment on, this is how my scar is seen … It’s not bad at all!
The problem is that it only looks good when my head returns. When I lowered my head, it looks like this …
I do not want anyone to discourage surgery if you need it, but I also want to be honest about what to expect. No one mentioned anything about my skin (apart from a scar), so I didn’t expect this at all. I don’t know if he will improve over time, but I can’t imagine he will.
Apart from all thyroid things, it has not been having a lot of happening. I still do not feel better mentally, but I follow up with my psychiatrist this month about the new medicine, so it is possible that I need a higher dose.
I have not lost any weight, although I start every day with the mentality of returning to normal not only with my diet, but in my life in general. I feel overwhelmed; So far in everything. Including email! If you are waiting for an answer, I am very sorry. I have spent the shortest possible time on the computer. I have really felt nostalgic for the 90s lately; I miss doing things without technology everywhere. So I’ve been working on that recently.
And still sewing! I have been doing many seams and cosines at hand lately. My publication on recent projects is about a year late now, hahaha. I just have no photos of things, so I need to take the time to take some photos.
Noah returns to live at home, and I love having a friend here! Eli does not go with me as he used to do it, but Noah has been playing Dr. Mario with me (that of the old Nintendo One school, I am * incredible * in that, haha), chatting with me about his day, asking me to watch movies with him, show him how to cook things, etc.
I’ve been working to rebuild my room’s decoration too. The children’s theme that Jerry and I tried was fun for a couple of years, but we were ready to move from the black walls and roof! I have painted the target of the roof (and no, it was not difficult to cover the black: a layer of Kilz and two layers of paint by Sherwin Williams) and the walls a kind of medium except. They are not too dark or too light.
My color inspiration actually came from a quilt where I am working at this time (I swore that * never * would enter the padding, but here I am). I bought a lot of fat rooms (a fabric yard room) on eBay: they are impressions of reproduction of the civil war and I love how colors are going. (I had to put a security pin in each of the 806 squares to keep it together while padding, that’s why I have this extended on the floor!).
I have some more things to do in my room (including finishing this Queen size quilt!) And then I will publish photos. Rose (Noah’s «girlfriend», separated, but was very friendly and are still close friends) loves to decorate and has been helping me with ideas. I am still leaving all the shelves of the cats; Cats use them so much that I can never knock them down. However, most of them are on the roof, so they do not hinder the furniture or anything.
So that is the essence of what is happening to me. As soon as I feel better, I will write a «real» publication, I promise!
