1,000 Peloton Rides: My Plus Size Experience

It has been a while since I updated you in my experience in Bicycle Peloton, so I thought that reaching 1000 trips is a great excuse to register.

Yes, it’s true: 1000 walks! *Cue Airhorns and Confetti*

If you have missed my previous publications about being a large size and a User of Peloton, here is a quick summary. Don’t you want to enter all that? No problem, omits forward.

Get an important milestone

If you have read on my journey from Peloton in the past, you will know that I am not one for the numbers. I do not emphasize the highest exit, reach personal records (PR) all the time, burn most calories or end up at the top of the classification table. I travel on the bicycle because I enjoy it and make me feel good. So why this publication dedicated to 1000 trips if I consciously avoid metrics around the squad? It is a good reason to recognize and celebrate the consistency I have had with this bicycle and the community.

1,000 squad walks: my large size experience 1

I travel with a cheerful movement in mind: what will fit my needs, schedule and interests at a given time. Is it always «cheerful»? No. But it is always intentional. This is the reason why many people prefer to use the term «intentional movement» on «cheerful movement». Whatever you use, I hope you understand what I mean, since it has been the key to consistency so far. In the past, my training plans revolved around burned calories or lost weight. If I didn’t see the movement of the scale, I would frustrate myself and give up. Eliminating all that measure and shame allowed me to rediscover the movement for the good of movement, not for trying to change my body to something different.

So what trip did I do for Ride 1000? One of my favorite instructors had a trip the day I wanted to reach the milestone, so I did the 45 minutes Ride in the power zone with Christine d’Ercole on 01/16/25. The main assembly was the Tabata style, with 20 seconds in zone 5, 10 seconds in zone 1, rinse and repeat. It was difficult, but it happened so fast! If you are not familiar with Powerzones, look at him. It is announced as «personal training on a scale» because their training is in a tail at an effort scale of 1-7, being one easier and seven more difficult. All, regardless of their size, shape or level of physical condition, lead to the same effort. There are many jargon/technical terms in the program, but I promise that it is easy once you get used to!

I made sure to wear my brightness shoes for the occasion: I made them a couple of years ago and I love them. I will make a tutorial soon!

1,000 trips as a large person: what is it really

The most common questions I get about Peloton are 1) the weight/stability limit and 2) the small seat. This does not surprise me at all because those were my 2 main questions before buying the bicycle. I am pleased to inform that I have not had any problem with the quality of the bicycle and I am still using the stock bike armchair. I did A video about Tiktok About the seat and different things to try if it doesn’t work for you. The TL; Dr is that he has many options and can change the seat and make adjustments to adapt to his anatomy. If you want a longer blog post dedicated to this topic, let me know.

What follows after 1,000 squad rides?

I really do not have any objective that is not maintaining consistency. I feel better physically and mentally after each trip, so it is easy to move on. Currently, I am starting week 2 of the current Powerzone Powerzone challenge with my group #Peloforpower (Bulb of Peloton for Power, no Pant Size). We are not strict with the challenge like other teams, so I make the trips that work for me and my schedule and omit those that do not.

Peloton also has just presented the Kettlebell program, which I am excited to try. I have done a little work by Kettlebell when I was in a semi -evidenced training, so I hope the form returns to me. The last thing I want is an injury!

In addition, I’m sure I will do the WICKED: The movie walk with Sam Yo At least three more times before getting tired of it!
