Making a Fresh Start with Your Hearing Loss — Blog

Sometimes, all that is needed is a small inspiration to advance in your auditory loss trip. My children motivated me to take an important step towards acceptance and self-life. For others, it could be a simple change of the calendar that drives them forward. Or maybe even the beginning of spring.

Spring is an opportunity for new beginnings, a renewed approach and sometimes a great jump of faith. This spring, perhaps it is the excuse that has been waiting to take another step to live more skillfully with its hearing loss.

Recharge your auditory loss trip

For many years, I established the same life goals over and over again. They did not take me anywhere. But then I began to think about the most tactically behavioral changes and began to program them on my calendar.

For example: this spring I will get healthier. Ok, add a weekly yoga class to my calendar. O: This spring I will attend the theater more frequently. Great, buy two tickets for a new show. And then add a reminder on the calendar to do the same in a few months.

How can we apply this to hearing loss? There are some ideas here.

1. Use your headphones consistently.

Solve keep them inside, even when it is challenging. Using our devices constantly allows our brains to adapt better to the new sound level. Try a daily reminder on your phone that requests you to put them and keep them inside.

2. Lawyer for yourself.

Mention your auditory loss every time you make a restaurant reservation. Use subtitles readers in the cinema or galapro in a live theater production when available. Every time you talk about your communication needs, it becomes a little easier. Soon, it will be a habit. And remember, advocate for yourself helps everyone with hearing loss too.

3. Make your audition analyze.

Are you still wondering if you have hearing loss? Schedule an audience test appointment at this time. Or take one of the Hearing tests Available online OA through an application.

4. Help others with their hearing loss.

Finding opportunities for defense of hearing loss in your community helps you connect with other people who share your experiences. Is there a homeless non -profit organization focused on the hearing? A school for deaf? Or communicate with a local house of cult or community theater on the loop or subtitles.

5. Tell your friends and family more about your auditory loss.

Send an email to your friends or share an informative audience publication on Facebook so they can better empathize with their communication challenges. The more they understand, the better they can support him on his trip.

6. Join other people with hearing loss.

Find a place HLAA Chapter And go to meetings. Some are in person, but many are now available virtually. Put the dates of the meeting on your calendar today to schedule them.

The only constant in auditory technology is change. Apple Airpods Pro 2 Now it can be used as auditory devices for adults with mild to moderate hearing loss. Or try a voice application to text or enable sound recognition on your smartphone. I tried Audience Glasses in CES And I loved them!

8. Read an auditory loss book.

There are several good available, and you can collect one or two tips. Some of those reviewed on my site include living better with the auditory loss of Katherine Bouton, the way I listen to Gael Hannan and Matt’s Silence soundtrack. Or collect Listen and beyond: living skillfully with hearing lossMy book was co -author of his defender Gael Hannan.

9. Educate others about hearing loss.

Volunteer to speak in a local senior center about tactics to deal with hearing loss or share their online experiences. You could learn some new things too.
