I’ve been feeling overwhelmed with my closet lately, so that meant buying a lot less until I could decide what to purge. As fall approaches, new styles appear that are finally interesting enough that I’m more motivated to clean up the excess hanging in my bedroom. Target released a new set of Future Collective styles, as well as some new fall/transitional styles in their private labels. I placed an order and made a try on TikTokand I wanted to share that information here as well.
Note: I have a Target store where I update it periodically with my favorite Target finds. All of the items I feature in this post are found in “Plus Size Fall Fashion.”
Sizing Information: Most of these items are available in sizes XS-4X. I’m 5’10, have a long torso and an apron belly and wear the 4X in all items.
Sleeveless Contrast Knit Ankle Dress – Future Collective

This dress first caught my eye with the new pieces from Future Collective. It is a dropped waist dress. The top is a thick material with a slight stretch, but the bottom is like a windbreaker type fabric. It will definitely make «swooshy» sounds when you walk. The skirt is voluminous, but the top doesn’t stretch much, so I would advise against sizing smaller. I really like it in person, if you can stand the noise of the fabric. I’m going to play with how to style it with layers; Drop waists aren’t something I normally wear, but it’s a fun challenge.
Drop Waist Long Sleeve Ankle Dress – Future Collective Floral

This dress is good for a fall transition. The fabric is a lightweight stretch knit that becomes slightly sheer when fully stretched. I could see this combination well with a motorcycle jacket and boots. It’s very comfortable. It has an asymmetrical seam at the waist, which is interesting, but I don’t think it really does much to differentiate it from any other long dress. Still, it’s nice for the warmer fall weather.
Women’s Sequin Midi Skirt – Future Collective Champagne
Women’s Fitted Waist Cardigan – Future Collective
Women’s Seamless Fitted Tank Top

I never pass up a good sequin, so this champagne sequin skirt was a must-have in my cart. It’s good quality and has a pretty eyelash lace detail peeking out at the bottom hem. There is elasticity, making it comfortable to wear.
The cardigan is designed to sit “at the waist” when buttoned up, but I didn’t love the way it looked closed (like a cracked cookie tin at the bottom) on purpose! But it has a good length and good material. It also comes in a more toasty tone. I think with denim it would be a good piece to deliver. I wouldn’t pair it with this skirt.
The seamless tank top was a surprise. I bought it to layer under a sheer sweater (below) and it makes a really nice base layer. There is a shelf holder on the inside, but it doesn’t really provide any support. I’m going to pick this one up in a few other colors because it’s a really nice, soft base coat. It will snag easily, so be careful if you use it as a main layer.
Women’s Drop Waist Pleated Ankle Skirt – Future Collective
Women’s Seamless Fitted Tank Top

Again with the dropped waist! In the past, I wouldn’t even have tried trying any of these on, but it’s nice to try new things. I loved the navy blue of the skirt; It looks expensive, although it is a kind of polyester. To me, this reads like a very high-rise pleated skirt, since I need to have it at my natural waist (which is high) for it to fit well. It also comes in a cream print. I think if you have more of a straight/column shape and less of an apple shape, you could have a totally different look.
Women’s Sheer Round Neck Sweater – Future Collective
Leisure Studio Women’s Fleece Long Skirt
Women’s Seamless Fitted Tank Top

This is a transparent sweater and does not include shell, so please be careful if you place the order. It also comes in black. I really like the look of this sheer coat, but I will say that if you have sensory issues with textured fabric, this may not be for you. It’s not itchy, but it has a texture that I think could be a problem for some people.
This skirt is a revelation. It’s fleece! Elastic waist! Internal drawstring! Pockets! Basically the perfect casual piece when you want to be comfortable but not messy. The comfort of loose sweatpants with the look of a long skirt with a front slit. It also comes in grey.
Elle Rhinestone Slingback Pointed Toe Pumps – Wide width

When I shop Target online, I always look at Target brand wide width shoes because they usually fit true to width and sell out quickly. These slingback shoes are very fun and comfortable. I’m an 11W and I think they run true to size, maybe even a little wide. They are also available in medium width. The only note: there is a strong chemical smell with these, probably due to the adhesive on the rhinestones. It seems to be fading, but if you’re sensitive you might want to skip them.
Do you have any questions about these styles? What are you buying during this in-between time?
